What are content macros?

You can use content macros as placeholders that dynamically generate customized, targeted text in your Push ads. You can add any of these type of macros to the titles and/or descriptions of your creatives to populate dynamic copy when the ads are served.

For example, if you're selling car insurance in all US states, you could use the {state} macro to populate dynamic copy that would read "Find car insurance in Florida!" to a user located in Florida.

The following macros are available to use in your Push creatives:

  • {COUNTRY} - The country the user is in

  • {REGION} - The region the user is in

  • {STATE} - The state the user is in

  • {CITY} - The city the user is in

  • {DEVICE_TYPE} - The type of device the user is using (Desktop, Mobile, Tablet, or Other)

  • {DEVICE_MAKE} - The make of the user’s device (i.e., Apple, Samsung, etc.)

  • {DEVICE_MODEL} - The model of the user’s device (i.e., Generic Android, Acer, Apple, etc.)

  • {BROWSER} - The browser the user is using (i.e., Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE, Safari, Opera, or Other)

  • {OS} - The operating system of the device the user is using (Mac OS, Windows, iOS, Android, or Other)

  • {CONNECTION} - The connection type the device is using (Cable/DSL, Cellular, Corporate, Dial-Up, or Unknown)

  • {CARRIER} - The mobile carrier of the device, if a mobile impression (i.e., AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Fios, etc.)

  • {IP} - The user’s IP address

  • {TARGET_VALUE} - The site or app the ad appears on

NOTE: Macros are not case sensitive. RTX Platform will use proper capitalization when populating the copy in your ad.

NOTE: If a content macro populates a value that causes the content to exceed the character limit of a partner, your ad will not be eligible for that impression.

You can also use the macros above, plus additional macros, to track campaign data on third party tracking platforms. Learn more about using macros for tracking.
