Tracking Pops target types

There are three different types of Pops targets which each uniquely match the sites that display your ad.

Where can I find data about target types?

If you're using a third-party tracking platform (i.e., Voluum, Prosper202, etc.) and would like to track the type of Pops target that received each impression, you can append the {target_type} macro to your Pops creative URLs. When your Pops ad is shown to a user, the {target_type} macro appended to your creative URL will capture the type of target that won the impression, and your tracking platform will store this information for you.

You can automatically see target type data in our reporting suite.

Using {target_type} to optimize campaigns

If your campaign contains a mix of different target types, tracking performance for each type of target can provide insight to which types have the highest conversion rates so you can add more of those types of targets to your campaign.

For example:

Let's say you've added shoes as a Search Query target and also shoes as a URL target.

If you've appended both {target} and {target_type} to your creative URL, {target} will tell your tracking platform whenever your campaign receives an impression from the target shoes, and {target_type} will tell your tracking platform whether the target was the Search Query or URL target. Again, you can also find this information in our reporting suite.

As both targets receive more and more impressions, you may notice one of them drives more conversions than the other. Then, you can raise the bid on the target with the higher conversion rate to get more high-converting volume.
