Learn how to diagnose potential issues with your RTX Platform conversion pixel.

NOTE: Please see here for how to use pixels to track and optimize conversion events for campaigns.

How do I know if my pixel has fired a conversion to RTX Platform?

When you go to the Pixels tab, you will see a list of pixels you've created. If a pixel has never fired a conversion back to RTX Platform before, you will see a yellow circle with “Nothing Received” in the column labeled "Last Fired". If a pixel has fired a conversion to RTX Platform before, it will say the date and time of the most recent conversion.

Additionally, when you are choosing a pixel to assign to a campaign, you see easily see which pixels have fired back conversions to RTX Platform before. On the settings page of a campaign, scroll down to the "Pixels & Tracking" section and click the dropdown next to "Pixel Assignment". If you see a green circle with a white checkmark next to a pixel’s name, that means that the pixel has fired a conversion to RTX Platform before. If you see a yellow circle next to a pixel’s name, the pixel has never fired a conversion to RTX Platform.

NOTE: Whether or not a pixel has not fired a conversion to RTX Platform, you will need to install the pixel for every offer’s unique thank you or confirmation page, or the page that loads after a conversion takes place.

Diagnosing and resolving potential issues with your pixel:

  • Did you remember to assign and install your pixel code? You must assign a pixel to each campaign and install the code for each offer and each unique page that loads after a conversion takes place.

  • Are you using a pixel type that your affiliate network or tracking platform accepts? RTX Platform offers image, Javascript, and server to server pixels. Your affiliate network or tracker may only accept a certain pixel type, so be sure to check which they accept.

  • Have you copied the pixel code correctly? Be sure that you copied and pasted the full conversion code.

  • Have you installed the pixel code on the correct page? Be sure that you (or a representative such as your affiliate manager) placed the pixel code in the correct designated location on their website, or directly on the offer’s page correctly.

  • If you are using a Javascript or image pixel, where on the page was it placed? As a general rule, we suggest placing pixels in the header of the page. If it is not placed in the header, there is a higher chance of a user exiting out of the page before the pixel can load and fire back to RTX Platform.

  • If you created a pixel code on the Pixels tab, did you assign the pixel to the correct campaign(s) and install it for the correct offer(s)? You must assign and install pixels to complete the pixel installation process.

  • If you are seeing conversions on your affiliate network or tracker and not RTX Platform, there may be a delay between the platforms. If you still do not see conversions by the next day, there may be a problem with your pixel installation.

Server to Server specific issues:

NOTE: As a best practice, only create one pixel for each event type (i.e. Form Submit, Lead, Purchase, etc.) and install it for all campaigns with that type of conversion. Try using a naming format such as "Lead-16January2018", which includes the event type associated with the pixel and the date the pixel was created.

NOTE: Only place ONE pixel per campaign on just the thank you / confirmation page. At this time, you cannot track conversions for more than one event per offer, even if the events and pixels are unique.
