1. Set up your affiliate network in Voluum

  • Click Affiliate networks in the toolbar.

  • Click New affiliate network, in green.

  • Fill in relevant information.

2. Set up RTX Platform as a traffic source in Voluum

  • Click Traffic Sources in the toolbar.

  • Click New traffic source, in green.

  • Under “Other Templates,” click on 50onRed/RTX Platform Pops and then Load template. Note: You select this template for our Pops/Push global pixels. However, you will need to save separate templates for different conversion types (form submit, lead, purchase, sign-up, pageview, or other) as the pixels are unique for each.

  • On the current “New traffic source” page, you can name the “Traffic source name.”

  • Next, you will need to create a pixel event and assign it to your campaign in RTX Platform. Follow steps 1-5 in this article to create and assign your pixel event. After you complete step 5 from this article, a modal will appear in RTX Platform. Select Server to Server from the modal. Highlight and copy the URL that's in the box.

OPTIONAL: You can set a default conversion value in your Campaign Settings that will track the same payout for each conversion, however, you can override this conversion amount by appending &r= followed by the conversion amount to the end of your server to server code. Some affiliate companies provide a macro you can use to dynamically populate unique conversion amounts per conversion, which you can append along with the &r= instead of a static amount. Using a macro is useful when conversion amounts vary.

  • Now, go back to Voluum. Delete anything that is in the box under “Traffic source postback URL” and paste your RTX Platform server to server pixel. Lastly for this step, at the end of the postback URL, delete <click_id> and replace with Voluum’s {externalid}.

  • You can also scroll down to select “ADVANCED PARAMETERS.” Whatever parameters and placeholders (our macros) you input here will auto-populate for any creative links you generate in Voluum for this template. As you can see, Voluum auto-populates External ID, Cost, and var1-var6 for you. You can edit those and/or add additional ones. We suggest going through all of these to be sure they are relevant to how you optimize and make sure that the placeholders they populate as our macros are updated and correct. The names you input for each parameter and placeholder will be the name Voluum uses when you generate reports. Please be sure to toggle the buttons under “Track” to "on" to ensure each is included in your reporting. Once you’re done with this page, click Save.

3. Set up your offer in Voluum

  • Click Offers in the toolbar.

  • Click New offer, in green.

  • After you name your offer in the first box, paste your offer URL from your affiliate network in the box under “Offer URL.” After you paste your offer URL, you must append your affiliate network's parameter for {click_id} with the macro. For example, if your affiliate network's parameter for {click_id} is parameterfromaffiliatenetwork, you would append ?parameterfromaffiliatenetwork={click_id} to the end of the offer URL. You will need to find out from your affiliate network what the parameter should be for {click_id}, as the parameter differs for each affiliate network. Here, parameterfromaffiliatenetwork is just an example. When a user lands on your offer URL, {click_id} will automatically update to a unique click ID value.

  • From the dropdown under "Affiliate network," select the affiliate network for this offer that we set up in Step 1.

  • Fill in any other information on this page as necessary for your advertising campaign.

  • You will need to copy the “Postback URL” and place it with your affiliate network. If you have an affiliate manager, they should be able to help you place it or place it for you!

  • Click Save.

4. Create Campaigns in Voluum

  • Click New campaign, in green.

  • Select the “Traffic source” that we created in Step 2 from the dropdown menu.

  • Fill in any other information on this page as necessary for your advertising campaign.

  • After you click Save, your “Campaign URL” (the URL you want users to land on) will populate. The parameters and macros are automatically added based on the traffic source configuration from Step 1. Copy this URL and add it as a creative URL in the relevant RTX Platform campaign.

These steps must be completed for each unique RTX Platform campaign.
